About the role:

The Family Support Services is funded by Territory Families, Housing and Communities and is a collaboration with Danila Dilba.

The Family Support Services coordinate an effective service system response to respond to high and complex needs, and trauma. The program must be able to engage with, and work effectively with, the broader service system.

The Family Support Services has a clear mandate to information exchange between service providers and Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities to ensure quality of services, efficiency and prevent unnecessary statutory intervention.

The service prioritises and fosters sector partnership and collaboration and services are based on evidence and focused on outcomes.

 

This is a Permanent Full-Time opportunity based in Darwin, NT within our Northern Territory Services Program. The position reports to the Family Support Services Team Leader.

 

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
  • An appropriate qualification in human services and/or equivalent experience and skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in working as part of a team.
  • Experience in case management with families and children who have experienced trauma.
  • An understanding of attachment, trauma theories, child development, child-centred approach, and resilience.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal history, values, the stolen generation, practices, and culture.

You must have a:

  • Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
  • Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles). MacKillop can assist successful candidates with their application.
