Maintenance Officer

About the Role
You will take a hands-on, proactive approach to safety, quality, and maintenance across both homes, ensuring a safe, compliant, and well-presented environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
This role requires someone who can identify issues early, take initiative, and follow through to ensure all maintenance tasks are completed to a high standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out general maintenance tasks, repairs, painting and room refurbishments across both sites.
- Coordinating and overseeing essential service maintenance requirements and external contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, on time to meet compliance regulations, and to a high standard.
- Maintaining the overall upkeep of the homes, including resident areas, common spaces, and back-of-house facilities.
- Supporting minor gardening and grounds maintenance to ensure outdoor areas remain safe, tidy, and presentable.
- Working closely with Home Managers and key stakeholders to prioritise maintenance needs and respond to issues promptly.
- Taking ownership of safety and quality, ensuring all work aligns with OH&S requirements and aged care standards.
- Using a computer system (PC) to log jobs, update maintenance records, and track completed work.
About You
You are a reliable, hands-on Maintenance Officer who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and maintaining a safe environment.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in general maintenance, repairs, and painting.
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and resolve issues independently.
- A proactive approach—you don’t wait to be told what to fix, you identify and act.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage tasks across two sites.
- Confidence working with contractors and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
- Basic computer skills for job tracking and documentation.
- A commitment to maintaining work to a consistently high standard.
Desirable Experience and Qualifications:
- A current trade qualification/certificate.
- An understanding of the Aged Care Standards, accreditation, continuous improvement and ACFI requirements.
- Current police check. Essential.
