About the Role
The Cook/Food Services Assistant (FSA) is a valued member of the Cheltenham Manor team and reports directly to the Chef. This role is responsible for:
- Preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for residents
- Managing food orders and stock control
- Ensuring menus, specialised diets, supplements and texture-modified meals meet residents’ needs and quality standards
- Supervising and supporting Food Services Assistants in daily kitchen operations
- Liaising with internal staff, external suppliers and residents’ families as required
- Delivering a positive and dignified dining experience for residents
The role also ensures compliance with food safety standards, infection control, and workplace health and safety requirements, including maintaining cleanliness, correct food storage and participating in regular kitchen audits.

Essential Skills and Requirements

- Food Safety Certificate
- Basic computer and documentation skills
- Knowledge of hygiene, infection control and safety practices
- Current National Police Check
- Evidence of Seasonal Influenza vaccination
- Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination
Desirable Experience and Qualifications
- Trade Certificate in Cookery or equivalent
- Certificate II or III in Hospitality
- Minimum of 1 year experience in hospitality or residential aged care food services
- Understanding of Aged Care Standards, accreditation, continuous improvement and AN-ACC requirements
- Knowledge of food safety and OH&S in an aged care setting
