Maintenance Crew and General Trades Person

Full Time | Oaklea Hall Aged Care + Cheltenham Manor Aged Care | Melbourne

$70,000 + Super + Travel Allowance

Join a hands on team where your trade skills directly improve daily life for older Australians.

About Us:

Medical & Aged Care Group (MACG) is a family owned and operated aged care provider, operating since 1995. We're built on relationships and family values, and we believe the look, feel and comfort of our homes matter just as much as the care within them. Our Maintenance Team makes that possible.

About the Role:

We're looking for a hands on, proactive Maintenance and General Trades Person to join our team across two of our homes, Oaklea Hall Aged Care located in Hughesdale and Cheltenham Manor Aged Care located in Cheltenham.

Oaklea Hall is a 46-bed residential aged care home nestled in Melbourne's inner southeast, known for its warm, close knit community and dedicated care team. Cheltenham Manor is a 155-bed home situated in the heart of Cheltenham, providing a welcoming and homelike environment for residents and their families.

Across both homes, you'll spend most of your time on room refurbishments, painting and general repairs, helping keep our homes bright, safe and welcoming for residents, families and staff. You'll occasionally be called on to support our other homes when needed, with a travel allowance provided.

You'll work alongside our Home Managers and a supportive maintenance and operations team. It's a genuinely varied role where no two days look the same and there's always meaningful work to get stuck into.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive pay!
  • Travel Allowance
  • Leave loading of 17.5%, making your leave worth more
  • EAP program
  • Refer a friend benefit program
  • JB Hi-Fi employee discounts
  • Staff recognition programs
  • Ongoing training and development

Additional Perks to Joining the Maintenance Crew:

  • Stability that trades work often can't offer: permanent full-time employment, consistent year-round workload (no weather delays or gaps between jobs), paid annual leave, personal/sick leave, and super.
  • Real career progression: within a growing organisation, backed by ongoing training and personal/professional development.
  • A supportive team and leadership who back you in, not just a job to get through
  • Work that matters: every repair, refurb and fresh coat of paint has a direct, visible impact on someone's home and livelihood.
  • A values led employer: Compassion, Integrity, Dignity, Diversity, Accountability, Family, Respect.

This is an active, physical trade role. You'll need to be able to:

  • Safely lift and carry maintenance materials and equipment
  • Use ladders and step platforms for painting and repair work
  • Stand, kneel, bend and move around job sites for extended periods across the day
  • Work with hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity and coordination

About You:

  • Experience in maintenance, repairs and painting
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills
  • Self motivated, with the ability to work independently while staying connected to the team
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • A positive, proactive, hands on attitude
  • Comfortable travelling between homes as required (required)
  • Current driver's licence and own reliable vehicle (required)
  • Basic computer skills for job tracking and documentation. Also being able to understand reports for upcoming Maintenance work
  • Australian working rights (required)

Desirable:

  • Trade qualification or maintenance related certificate
  • Understanding of aged care standards and compliance requirements
  • Current Employment Police Check (required prior to start)

Our Values:

At MACG, our values guide everything we do:

Compassion | Integrity | Dignity | Diversity | Accountability | Family | Respect

If you are passionate about using your skills to improve environments, support communities and create meaningful experiences for older Australians, we would love to hear from you.
