Leading Hand Plant Mechanic
M2P Engineering

Earn an estimated $249,000k per annum plus Superannuation
FIFO | 2:1 Roster working day and night shift

M2P Engineering is seeking experienced Plant Mechanics to join our team at Prominent Hill on a FIFO basis. This is a fixed-task role with strong earning potential, exposure to surface and underground operations, and opportunities to move to other sites upon project completion.
This position will not suit generalist mechanics without experience with access equipment. We are specifically looking for tradespeople who are confident in maintaining and fault‑finding EWPs and cranes in hard rock mining environments.
You’ll be part of a site‑based maintenance team, working primarily from our surface-based workshop, with occasional underground attendance for urgent breakdowns or repairs that must be completed underground.
You'll be maintaining:
- EWPs – boom and scissor lifts (hands‑on experience essential)
- Cranes – including Frannas, 100T Liebherr and 50T slew crane (experience essential)
- Light vehicles (site utes)
- Forklifts
- Some heavy vehicles (buses, trucks)
- And other equipment such as generators, concrete agi's and smaller engines.
Work will include both surface and underground exposure, with underground allowances paid on all hours worked.
What you'll bring
- Proven, hands‑on experience maintaining EWPs and cranes
- Boom & scissor EWPs
- Franna or similar pick‑and‑carry cranes
- Trade qualification as a Plant Mechanic, Heavy Diesel Fitter, LV Mechanic or similar. Auto electrical experience highly regarded.
- Ability to fault‑find, diagnose and repair mobile plant in a mining or heavy industrial environment
- Willingness and capability to attend underground work as required
- Strong safety focus and ability to work to mine‑site standards
Applicants with genuine EWP and crane maintenance experience will be first considered.

- HR or MC driver’s licence highly regarded
- EWP (over 11m) – advantageous but not mandatory
- High Risk Work Licence
- White Card
- Airconditioning licence - advantageous but not mandatory
