Contract Specialist
M2P Engineering
Brisbane, Queensland > Teneriffe
Full Time
As our valued Contract Specialist, you will own the full contract lifecycle across multiple projects; from tender through execution and close-out, ensuring M2P’s commercial and legal position is protected while driving successful project outcomes.
Based at our Headoffice at Teneriffe, you’ll manage contracts across a portfolio of mining, industrial, and heavy engineering projects, ranging from medium to large-scale SMP works, giving you broad exposure and hands-on experience. You will work closely with project teams, leadership, finance, and legal, providing commercial guidance that shapes decisions and mitigates risk across the business. Operating with autonomy, you’ll mentor teams, improve contract processes, and proactively strengthen M2P’s commercial frameworks, ensuring clarity, compliance, and consistent project success.
You’ll make an impact by:
● Owning the full contract lifecycle across multiple projects, from tender to close-out, ensuring commercial risk is actively managed and opportunities are maximised
● Drafting, negotiating, and managing subcontractor agreements aligned with M2P’s risk and compliance frameworks
● Maintaining and improving contract templates, schedules, and risk allocation models in collaboration with Legal and Commercial teams to enhance efficiency and consistency
● Developing project-specific Contract Summaries and Handover Packs to provide operational teams with clear guidance on scope, deliverables, and risks
● Coordinating NDAs and liaising with legal on bespoke agreements, amendments, and compliance matters
● Maintaining an accurate contract register and supporting audit readiness, governance, and reporting requirements
● Mentoring Contract Administrators and project teams on contract interpretation, risk allocation, and compliance obligations, strengthening commercial capability across the business
● Supporting commercial reporting, claims administration, and tender control activities to drive timely and informed decision-making
● Providing coverage for key tender and contract administration functions when required, ensuring continuity across projects
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you will have:
● Demonstrated commercial acumen, ideally within a contractor environment in a small to mid-tier business
● Deep experience working with contracts, terms, and conditions as a core responsibility
● Ability to operate independently, providing clear direction and confidently challenging stakeholders
● Extensive experience in contract management within engineering, construction, or mining sectors
● Strong knowledge of contract terms, subcontractor agreements, and compliance frameworks
● Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, building capability and fostering collaboration
● Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills
● Tertiary qualifications in law, engineering, construction, or equivalent experience
Ideally, you will also have:
● Experience with tender controls, commercial risk evaluation, and claims administration
● Exposure to mining, industrial, or infrastructure projects
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risk and provide practical solutions
