Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Lead Estimator to join our growing Studies team in Mississauga, Ontario.
Reporting to the General Manager Studies - Americas & Vancouver Operations the Lead Estimator will ensure delivery of capital cost estimates in alignment with the company's, client’s and project requirements in terms of accuracy, quality, and schedule.
The tasks you'll perform
- Support the General Manager/Estimating Manager in consistently achieving high‑quality, accurate, and timely estimates in accordance with project or study requirements.
- Adopt and follow all required project‑specific and company procedures, systems, work practices, plans, and protocols to maintain efficiency, consistency, and high standards.
- Provide support and/or manage estimating components for concept, scoping, feasibility, and detailed studies, including detailed capital cost estimates suitable for adoption as capital budgets.
- Prepare and maintain the basis‑of‑estimate documentation, project scope, and estimate basis documents for inclusion in main study/project documentation, ensuring traceability of all estimating inputs and costs.
- Manage estimating administration activities and follow up with study/project team members to ensure timely delivery of estimate deliverables.
- Provide estimate presentations, conduct peer and client reviews (including benchmarking), and participate in applicable project meetings.
- Conduct range‑analysis workshops for input into the @Risk model when required, while ensuring strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.
The expertise you'll bring
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in various aspects of Estimating and Project Management in the mineral processing and related industries.
- Demonstrates extremely strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and sustain positive relationships with clients, vendors, and co‑workers while displaying the organization’s core values and ethos.
- Brings solid technical aptitude with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, high attention to detail, and exceptional ability to interpret 3D models, engineering drawings, and material take‑offs.
- Provides mentoring, supports professional development, and identifies succession‑planning opportunities for team members within the business unit.
- University degree in Engineering or equivalent industry training.

The expected salary range for this role is $135,000 to $180,000. This range is based on the role’s job family and level and reflects a good faith estimate for the role at the time of posting. Your final offer will depend on factors such as market conditions, internal equity and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
