LPN Dry Mining is recruiting for a Mechanical Supervisor to join our project team in Oranjemund, Namibia
Reporting to the Operations Superintendent the Mechanical Supervisor will be is responsible for carrying out Maintenance duties and ensuring that the equipment availability is optimal for continuous flow of operations.
The purpose is to manage DMU Mechanical maintenance team and its operations daily and ensure that Plant health is optimal within the mine site. They provide accurate and timely feedback on equipment in accordance with Lycopodium’s standards.
The tasks you'll perform
- Lead and manage the DMU mechanical maintenance team, ensuring equipment reliability and optimal plant health by training, and mentoring mechanical technicians, conduct performance reviews, schedule work, and foster a culture of safety and collaboration.
- Plan, schedule, and allocate maintenance tasks for preventive, corrective, and predictive activities.
- Oversee daily mechanical operations, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure equipment efficiency and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues on DMU, slurry systems, pumps, pipelines, and fixed plant equipment.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, conduct inspections and training, and guarantee work meets quality standards and proper procedures, Conduct inspections and enforce quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Coordinate with production and project teams to align maintenance activities with operational goals. Align mechanical activities with organisational goals, assist with maintenance planning, installations, record-keeping, and budget management.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment, and maintenance KPIs.
The expertise you'll bring
- Namibian citizen or permanent resident
- Mechanical Engineering trade qualification or RPL.
- 8+ years in mining or processing plant operations, with minimum 3+ years in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience with Dry Mining Units (DMU), slurry transfer systems, and fixed plant equipment; welding HDPE pipes is an advantage.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, safety protocols, and maintenance practices
- Skilled in planning, scheduling, troubleshooting, and interpreting technical drawings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS reporting tools.
- Willingness to work rotational shifts and adapt to changing operational requirements.
