Lycopodium South Africa is currently recruiting for a General Manager to join our growing organisation in Cape Town, South Africa.

Reporting to the Managing Director the General Manager will be responsible for managing Lycopodium South Africa to provide professional services in accordance with Lycopodium’s strategies, standards and procedures, Client and contractual requirements.

The tasks you'll perform

• Develop a comprehensive, detailed Business Plan to support business growth and sustainability.

• Annually, develop a budget and business plan

• Work in an integrated and transparent manner with the MD

• Building relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including continuously improving relationships with existing and new Clients.  

• Continuous improvement in both the management and technical competence of staff

• Align the composition and skills of staff within and/or assigned to projects with project requirements and the Company’s strategic plans and objectives.

• Encourage a high performing and productive culture throughout the organisation whilst also maintaining a sound working environment.  

• Manage timely professional services including projects and studies in accordance with Company, Client, regulatory and contractual requirements. 

• Ensure compliance with the Company's Corporate Governance Policy and in particular the Risk Management Policy.

• Adopt the procedures, work practices, plans, systems and protocols to enable the organisation to work efficiently and at a consistently high standard. 

• Manage, and where requested directly lead, the scheduling and preparation of proposals and tenders with an aim of providing high quality deliverables tailored to the Client and project needs.

 • Achieve high levels of reimbursement for all employees

• Work collaboratively with personnel across all entities and business units.

The expertise you'll bring

• Tertiary Qualification in Engineering, Commerce or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution.

• Minimum 15 years relevant industry or related postgraduate experience in a senior leadership/management role.

• Registration as a professional Engineer with ECSA

• South African Citizen or Permanent Resident

• Cape Town based; relocation assistance is provided.

• Extremely well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

• Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and co-workers. 

• Exemplify and encourage the core values and ethos of the business.

• Provide mentoring and identify avenues of professional development and succession planning for personnel within your group.

• Intuitive leader with the ability to initiate, lead and manage change in a complex environment.

• Ability to delegate appropriately. 

• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables.

• Ability to evaluate work practices, implement systems and suggest alternatives and refinements where necessary. 

• Demonstrated ability to achieve consistently high standards within both budgetary and schedule constraints. 

• Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Proficient understanding of business acumen with the ability to adapt to different business environments.

• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment.

• Demonstrate a strict practice of confidentiality, personal responsibility and discretion.

• High degree of professional ethics.
