LPN Dry Mining is recruiting for a DMU Shift Supervisor to join our project team in Oranjemund, Namibia
Reporting to the Operations Superintendent the DMU Shift Supervisor will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and productive operation of the Dry Mining Unit (DMU) and its associated mobile equipment (e.g., dozers, haulage units, conveyors, feeders, and slurry transfer systems).
The role ensures continuous mining feed to the Processing Plant while maintaining operational discipline, equipment integrity, and adherence to production and safety targets.
The tasks you'll perform
- Lead and oversee all Dry Mining Unit (DMU) field operations, ensuring efficient ore extraction, feed consistency, equipment performance, and achievement of daily production targets.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop operational crews through effective communication, training, and performance management to drive safety and productivity.
- Manage equipment inspections, performance monitoring, and maintenance coordination to maximize uptime and ensure mechanical reliability.
- Champion safety and environmental compliance through proactive risk management, incident prevention, and promotion of a strong safety culture.
- Track, record, and analyze production data to identify variances, optimize performance, and deliver accurate operational reporting.
- Collaborate across Mine Planning, Maintenance, and Process Plant teams to align operational priorities, ensure smooth ore flow, and maintain clear communication channels.
The expertise you'll bring
- Be a Namibian Citizen
- Diploma or Degree in Mining, Engineering, or Mineral Processing, with relevant supervisory or trade certifications.
- 8+ years of mining operations experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven expertise with Dry Mining Units (DMU), dozer trap systems, slurry transfer, and feed optimisation.
- Strong technical knowledge of mobile mining equipment, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Skilled in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and production reporting tools.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, supervising multi-skilled crews, conducting training, mentoring, and ensuring operational efficiency.
- Deep commitment to Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) standards, including risk assessment, incident investigation, and environmental compliance.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, able to track production metrics, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement.
- Effective cross-functional collaborator, liaising with Mine Planning, Maintenance, Geology, and Process Plant teams.
- Recognized for operational discipline, accountability, and achieving production and safety targets.
