LPN Dry Mining is recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join our project team in Oranjemund, Namibia

The Mechanical Fitter responsible for dis-assembling, assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment by interpreting technical drawings and using original equipment manufacturer manual. 

The role ensures that preventive, corrective maintenance and shutdowns/breakdowns are effectively carried out. They provide accurate and timely feedback on equipment in accordance with Lycopodium’s standards.

The tasks you'll perform

• Disassemble and assemble mechanical systems and piping using blueprints and relevant drawings.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical systems.
• Support the implementation of preventive maintenance (PM) procedures and checklists.
• Attend to planned maintenance, breakdowns, and shutdowns to ensure continuous equipment availability.
• Carry out welding and fabrication of parts and components as required.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, repairs, and inspections in line with safety and operational standards.
• Collaborate with Supervisors, Operators, Technicians, and Trades Assistants to complete maintenance activities safely and efficiently.
• Install new equipment and modify existing systems according to approved standards.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), isolation, and safety procedures.
• Participate in toolbox talks, safety inspections, and hazard identification (HAZID) activities.

The expertise you'll bring

• Be a Namibian citizen
• Mechanical Engineering Trade Qualification or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
• Minimum 5–7 years’ experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a mining or processing plant.
• Competent in assembly, installation, fault-finding, diagnostics, and fabrication work.
• Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and using hand tools and specialized machinery.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS systems.
• Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems.
• Willingness to work rotational shifts and adapt to changing operational requirements.
