About your role

The Larrakia Cultural Centre is seeking an experienced and motivated Exhibitions and Events Manager to drive pre-opening activities with regard to visitor numbers, engagement, events, tourism and customer experience activities. Reporting to the CEO, this newly created role is the key point of contact for clients and stakeholders and supports the Centre’s growth as a leading cultural tourism destination.

About what you’ll do

  • Identify and develop new income streams, including visitor attraction, venue hire and cultural experiences
  • Build networks to ensure tour groups from ‘buses and boats’ arrive once the Centre is open
  • Promote and coordinate exhibitions, events and activations
  • Assist the Operations Manager to represent the Centre to conference organisers, tourism operators and stakeholders
  • Represent the Centre at trade shows and industry events
  • Build strong relationships with government, corporate, tourism and community partners

About You / What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrated experience in sales, marketing or events (tourism, hospitality or cultural sectors preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders
  • Highly organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities
  • Collaborative team player with attention to detail
  • Current licence and National Police Check

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Larrakia culture or willingness to undertake cultural learning
  • Formal qualifications in marketing, communications, tourism or event management
  • Knowledge of the NT tourism or cultural sector

To be successful in this role you will be willing to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends and travel to stakeholder events and exhibitions as required.

About us

Larrakia Cultural Centre Limited is a not-for-profit organisation, providing art, language, cultural programs, cultural tourism, events and retail sales. The Centre will include- meeting rooms, amphitheatre for performances, restaurant, kiosk, retail, exhibition, classrooms, men’s and women’s cultural areas and an arts workshop.

Construction is currently in progress, and the Centre is anticipated to open in mid 2026
