Job no: 8HXXN

Fixed term contract to cover one of our team heading off on paternity leave.

About Us:

We’re L’affare - Wellington’s original coffee business, born in 1990 out of a love for espresso. It all started at our café and HQ on College Street, and 30 years later, we’re still proudly there. Over the years, we’ve grown into a full-scale roastery in Mt Cook, fuelling New Zealand’s coffee culture one cup at a time

Our people make us who we are today. We’re a mixed bunch of creative, industrious, adventurous humans, all with a great love for serving NZ the freshest and best coffee possible.

The role:

We’re on the lookout for a Coffee Equipment Technician to join our Wellington-based workshop team. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing equipment across our commercial fleet as well as for a wide range of domestic customers. As importers and distributors of Wega, Rocket, and Mazzer equipment across New Zealand, we pride ourselves on being true experts in our product range.

Your time will be divided between our Mt Cook workshop - where you'll maintain a wide range of coffee equipment and supporting our network of equipment customers - and out in the field, supporting our wholesale sales team.

You'll engage with customers, working through a variety of technical challenges and while your role is on preventative maintenance, there's equally the opportunity for fault finding and repairs too.

About you:

You’re someone who thrives on hands-on learning, brings sharp critical thinking skills, and embraces a mindset of continuous improvement. We’re looking for a flexible team player with proven attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability in technical environments.

While prior experience in a technical role within the coffee industry or someone with a solid understanding of electrical and/or plumbing fundamentals is preferred, we are open to looking at candidates who come from other industries, or baristas who are excited to develop their skills in a new area. We are committed to providing industry applicable training for those that need it.

An Electrical Appliance Serviceperson qualification would be a bonus.

Why L’affare?

Joining us means immersing yourself in the world of coffee, leveraging exciting learning opportunities across our Australia and New Zealand UCC business. While this is a fixed term opportunity, it comes with a fantastic development pathway - and coffee on tap!

This is a full-time, fixed-term position working Monday to Friday, until end July 2026. You will also be required to be on a call out roster - approximately one weekend every five weeks, which will be paid as an on-call allowance.
