Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, Underground Rebuilds/Fabrication, duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Take the lead with safe working practices to ensure superior levels of safety and housekeeping are obtained - achieve zero lost time injuries in workshop.
  • Develop standard work practices and procedures
  • Ensure Corporate Engineering Standards are met
  • Work with workshop personnel, while working hands on to execute assigned work to required quality standards.
  • Ensure standard work practices and procedures are followed
  • Upskill existing and new workshop personnel in correct mechanical/hydraulic techniques and fault finding
  • Execute flawless mechanical and hydraulic commissioning of the underground rebuilds at the Rutherford facility ensuring we meet on time deliveries
  • Assist the Business Unit Manager and the team in monitoring of monthly performance KPI’s and develop improvement strategies.


To be successful in this position, the following skills and experience are desired:

  • Relevant trade qualification in a mechanical, and/or hydraulic related trade.
  • Minimum 5 years workshop or mine site experience.
  • Previous experience working as a leading hand or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in fault finding and maintaining hydraulic systems.
  • Experience working on Joy miners, shuttle cars and feeder breakers.
  • Sound computer skills – Word, Excel, Kronos, SAP would be beneficial.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and plan jobs.
