The Opportunity: We are currently Seeking a Field Service Supervisor based in our Mackay branch, who will manage the day to day operational activities of Field Service, which will include team management, safety, WIP management, productivity, work quality and maintaining a high level of customer to meet the expectations of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the customer relationship with Komatsu Mackay Field Service by providing the customer with regular updates of machine repair progress by using photographic progress reports for larger jobs and verbal for smaller jobs
  • Develop a culture of training and development for the team by providing a minimum of 5 days per technician for WIP employees
  • Ensure WIP is managed effectively by driving a culture where the work scope is clear before commencing repairs and responsible person working on the machine completes a detailed service report so the job can be closed out
  • Provide a proactive approach to reduce rework by promoting a best practice approach for quality in performing repairs and investigating and implementing corrective actions for any rework that has occurred
  • Promote the Komatsu Customer Support Charter as the way we do business by working with the Service Manager to implement best practice for customer service and communicate with the team
  • Apply a disciplined approach to expense control by looking for areas we can reduce unnecessary spend and reviewing all expense accounts monthly
  • Review Field Service travel regularly to ensure vehicles are being recovered effectively
  • Manage utilisation to the target of 75% by ensuring correct rosters and shifts are in place and overtime is controlled and authorised by supervisors and ensure all lost time is justified and the Service Manager must approve all lost time that is overtime

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral to effectively communicate with customers and personnel at all levels.
  • Appropriate demeanour for supervising and assisting to create a positive “team atmosphere”.
  • Proven ability to implement OH&S practices in the workplace
  • Good technical experience on Komatsu product range.
  • Good understanding of Komatsu systems and process
  • Leadership skills and experience
  • Good understanding of how a field service department operates
  • Must understand the warranty guidelines and process
  • Proven experience to lead work groups
  • Trade background
  • Customer service orientated
  • Financial understanding of P&L
  • Drive for Continuous Improvement and 5S
  • Previous experience with Komatsu or another OEM
