The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical coding, attention to detail, and a dedication to maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assign accurate medical codes to diagnoses and procedures in adherence to Australian coding guidelines and healthcare regulations.
  • Assigning industry-recognised codes such as ICD-10 and OPCS-4
  • Review and analyse patient medical records to ensure precise documentation and coding.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify documentation and acquire additional information when necessary.
  • Stay abreast of changes in Australian coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures.
  • Participate in coding audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with Australian coding standards.
  • Provide training and education to healthcare staff on coding-related topics.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential required.
  • Experience in clinical coding, preferably in an Australian hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Proficient understanding of ICD-10, ACHI, and ACS classifications, as well as familiarity with the Australian coding system.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in Australia.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical terminology
