About the role:

Our Client is on the hunt for a mechanically minded individual to undertake a Fitter/Machinist Apprenticeship. You will learn the trade skills and techniques to successfully complete a Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade), while specialising in the hydraulics industry.

Whilst completing this apprenticeship, you will not only explore in depth the world of machining but will also master the meticulous art of hydraulics under the guidance of skilled professionals. Experience a blend of mentorship, practical learning, and the challenge of troubleshooting and providing solutions. As an apprentice/trainee, you will receive both on and off the job training working towards MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade which will see you employed directly by Kestrel by up to 4 years. About you:

  • Completion of Year 10
  • Genuine interest in pursuing a career in the Engineering trade
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Commitment to full term of the apprenticeship and study requirements
  • Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ongoing commitment to safety, quality, and principles of continuous improvement
  • A current driver’s licence and completion of Certificate II in Engineering advantageous, but not necessary

What you will do:

  • Operate manual lathe and mill
  • Create and replace hydraulic hoses
  • Customer service
  • Review and replace stock
  • Repair hydraulic pumps, motors, valves and cylinders
  • Mark out jobs, set up machines, prepare materials, tools and fixtures
  • Diagnose faults and issues and craft long-lasting solutions
  • Troubleshoot and repair a range of mechanical equipment
  • Utilise a variety of machining equipment while incorporating proven techniques
  • Foster a safe and organised workshop setting, ensuring smooth operations
  • Collaborate with experienced professionals to expand your knowledge
