The Opportunity
As a Tax Senior Accountant, you will be a key player in enabling Kelly+Partners’ next phase of growth. The successful applicant will become an integral part of the broader team and will have at least 5+ years' experience in a public practice environment.
Position Responsibilities
- Oversee preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns, including personal, fiduciary and business returns ensuring timely filings and payment.
- Review and prepare tax projections; consolidate and ensure accuracy of tax-related financial data.
- Conduct financial reviews to assess the firm’s tax and financial performance, providing actionable insights to senior management.
- Recommend tax strategies by researching federal, state, and local taxation issues, identifying potential tax savings and efficiencies.
- Maintain accuracy of the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of tax-related transactions.
- Review reconciliation and resolve tax account discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, accounting standards, and industry regulations: communicate with federal, state and local authorities as required.
- Coordinate with external financial advisors, manage external audits, and ensure compliance with auditing requirements.
- Identify and implement best practices and tax accounting automation tools to improve efficiency and streamline workflows.
- Maintain and update tax policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with legislative updates and organizational objectives.
- Support tax staff, providing regular feedback, direction, and performance evaluations.
- Communicate with clients and vendors, ensuring exceptional service and maintaining confidentiality.
- Provide support to other departments, ensuring tax processes are integrated smoothly into overall firm operations.
About You
- Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or EA designation is highly preferred.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in accounting, finance, tax, or a similar role, with progressive managerial responsibilities.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing team.
