The Opportunity

We’re looking for an Accounting Assistant who loves getting things done, notices the details others miss and is genuinely obsessed with delivering an amazing client experience.

Working closely with a Partner and their client portfolio, you’ll be the person who helps keep everything moving. You’ll combine outstanding administration and organisation with a practical understanding of accounting and tax, allowing you to understand client requests, gather what’s needed and triage matters to the right person.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being at the centre of a busy client portfolio and gets real satisfaction from making life easier for both clients and the Partner they support.

What you’ll be doing

You will provide hands-on support across client service, accounting administration and Partner support, including:

  • Being a key point of contact for clients and providing responsive, professional and proactive service
  • Supporting the Partner with the day-to-day administration of their client portfolio
  • Managing and triaging incoming client enquiries, identifying what can be actioned directly and what requires accountant or Partner input
  • Proactively following up clients for information and outstanding documentation
  • Downloading and collating ATO reports, statements and other information required by the accounting team
  • Preparing and processing tax registrations, including GST and PAYG registrations
  • Assisting with ABN and TFN applications
  • Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) on routine client matters
  • Assisting accountants with the preparation and administration of Business Activity Statements (BAS)
  • Preparing and issuing client invoices and supporting billing administration
  • Coordinating client documentation, correspondence and administrative requirements
  • Maintaining accurate and well-organised client records
  • Keeping the Partner across matters that are urgent, sensitive or require technical input
  • Providing broader administrative and accounting support to help the team deliver an exceptional client experience

What we’re looking for

First and foremost, you’ll be someone who cares deeply about the client experience.

You will take ownership, follow things through and understand that seemingly small details can make a big difference to a client.

You’ll also bring:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy
  • A genuine passion for amazing client service
  • Strong organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A proactive mindset. You see what needs doing and get on with it
  • A foundational understanding of accounting and Australian tax concepts
  • The ability to understand and triage accounting and tax-related enquiries appropriately
  • Confidence communicating with clients, the ATO and internal team members
  • Sound judgement about what you can resolve and when something needs to be escalated
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential client information
  • A willingness to learn and continue developing your technical knowledge

Who will thrive in this role?

You could have accounting experience, be studying accounting or commerce, or have worked in an accounting practice in a client service or administration capacity. What matters most is your mindset.

You love clients. You love detail. You love being organised. And you like knowing enough about accounting to understand what’s going on.

When a client contacts us, we want you thinking:

What does this client need? What can I take care of now? What information do we need? And who is the right person to get involved if this requires technical advice?

If you are someone who takes pride in making things happen, enjoys being the organisational right hand to a Partner and wants to build your accounting knowledge while delivering an outstanding client experience, we'd love to hear from you.
