The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the Heavy Weapons Carrier (HWC) capability within the Armoured Fighting Vehicle Branch, contributing to one of Defence’s most critical land capability programs.
Reporting to the Integrated Work Package (IWP) Lead, the Project Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end planning and execution of acquisition and sustainment activities in accordance with established policies, procedures and governance frameworks. This role plays a key part in stakeholder engagement, client satisfaction, and the successful integration of project outcomes across Defence capability, engineering and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) environments.
Responsibilities:
- Apply project management expertise to support a major Defence capability program
- Develop and implement project management strategies, analysis, plans and supporting documentation
- Establish and maintain effective integration between capability outcomes, ILS and engineering processes
- Liaise with Defence Prime contractors and subcontractors to manage and deliver project outcomes
- Build and sustain effective working relationships with Defence headquarters and dependent Defence projects
- Contribute to KBR proposal and tender development activities as required
- Maintain a strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and foster a positive safety culture
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
- Demonstrated experience within a Defence or technically aligned industry
- Strong working knowledge of ASDEFCON contracting frameworks
- Experience drafting contractual and governance documentation
- Demonstrated experience in tender evaluation activities
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
- Experience supporting land combat or armoured vehicle capability programs (desirable)
- Familiarity with Defence acquisition and sustainment lifecycle frameworks (desirable)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and client-facing communication skills (desirable)
