The Opportunity
As KBR continues to strengthen its presence in Australia’s Defence sector, we are expanding our Commercial capability and growing our teams to support current and future opportunities across our diverse Defence portfolios, including Maritime, Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance, Electronic Warfare, and Land Systems.
These roles support a range of high-profile programs across MSP domains, offering the opportunity to deliver end-to-end commercial leadership across procurement, contracting, and supplier engagement. You will work across the full program lifecycle, contributing to the delivery of complex Defence capabilities aligned with Commonwealth frameworks and priorities.
This is an opportunity to join a growing team supporting nationally significant Defence programs. Most roles are based in Melbourne or Canberra and require onsite presence; therefore, applicants must be currently located in, or willing to relocate to, these locations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver commercial strategies to support program and project outcomes.
- Lead or support end-to-end procurement and contracting activities across varying levels of complexity.
- Apply and tailor relevant contracting frameworks and commercial models to suit program needs.
- Support or lead tender processes, including documentation, evaluation, negotiation, and contract award.
- Provide contract management and administration across the full contract lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with applicable procurement policies, governance standards, and legislative requirements.
- Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks, including performance, variations, and supplier-related issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, delivery teams, and industry partners.
- Support supplier engagement, negotiation, and relationship management activities.
- Contribute to governance, reporting, and assurance activities across programs and portfolios.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- Proven experience in commercial, procurement, or contract management roles, ideally within Defence, government, or complex project environments.
- Experience working with structured contracting frameworks (e.g. ASDEFCON or equivalent) is highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of procurement and contract lifecycle management principles.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading tenders, evaluations, and negotiations.
- Ability to operate effectively in complex, stakeholder-rich environments.
- Experience contributing to or supporting major projects or programs is desirable.
- Knowledge of governance, compliance, and assurance processes is advantageous.
- Relevant qualifications in Law, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline are preferred.
- Professional certifications (e.g. CIPS, CA, CPA, or equivalent) are beneficial but not essential.
- Must have an active Baseline or NV1 security clearance and be an Australian citizen to be eligible to apply.
