The Opportunity:

KBR is seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking Cyber Security Engineer to provide specialist expertise across a major, long‑term Defence capability program. In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping the security, resilience, and readiness of future Army systems and technologies.

As a key contributor within a complex, interconnected engineering environment, you will work closely with the Engineering Manager, Chief Engineer, Project Managers, Project Sponsors, and broader CASG and Army engineering teams. Your insights will help guide critical decisions that influence capability uplift and system integration across multiple program phases.

The Cyber Security Engineer will operate with a high degree of autonomy and professional judgement, providing trusted advice across security engineering activities. You will support strategic planning, project planning, and capability development, ensuring all engineering and integration work is underpinned by contemporary cyber security principles.

Your contributions will directly support future capability enhancements, baseline configuration changes, and the delivery of secure, reliable Defence systems.


Responsibilities:

  • Support Cyber Security Operations and Cyber Worthiness requirements
  • Contribute to Cyber Assessment and Authorisation activities to achieve Authority to Operate
  • Develop and review Cyber Security Management Plans (CSMPs) and Security Threat & Risk Assessments (STRAs)
  • Conduct Business Impact Level (BIL) assessments
  • Review DISP controls and accreditation requirements for the Program Integration Partner (PIP) and delivery panellists
  • Provide SME input into system Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Oversee cyber‑related activities conducted by the Program Integration Partner
  • Conduct security certification, accreditation, and associated support tasks
  • Plan and deliver engineering services, ensuring regulatory compliance, resource coordination, and achievement of project outcomes
  • Review contract deliverables to ensure quality, completeness, and alignment with cyber and engineering requirements

  

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • A 4‑year undergraduate Engineering degree in a relevant discipline
  • Industry‑recognised ICT and Cyber Security certifications (desirable)
  • Understanding of Zero Trust network architectures
  • Understanding of Data‑Centric security architectures
  • Experience implementing Cyber Governance, Risk and Compliance principles in a Defence context
  • Experience working as a System, Security, or Solutions Architect

Due to the nature of Defence work, applicants must be Australian citizens and hold an active NV1 security clearance.
