The Opportunity

KBR is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team to support the sustainment of specialised fleets within the Land Engineering Agency. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, the position contributes to defining design requirements aligned with engineering change and configuration management processes, while ensuring compliance with certification standards, industry practices, and organisational engineering frameworks.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the development of technical investigations and instructions for platform systems, ensuring accurate verification and validation of engineering data.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to define design requirements aligned with engineering change and configuration management processes for mechanical platform systems.
  • Perform the role of Design Acceptance Representative, contributing to engineering design reviews and the preparation of Engineering Support Reports.
  • Lead significant upgrade projects on behalf of the client, ensuring delivery to scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Operate in compliance with the standards and requirements of the Authorised Engineering Organisation and Contractor Engineering Management Plan.
  • Fulfil Design Acceptance Representative responsibilities in support of Certificate of Airworthiness (CoA) requirements.
  • Support the development and review of technical work instructions and maintenance schedules
  • Deliver high-quality engineering outputs, including reports and design documentation, in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable certification standards and established industry practices.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key customers and supplier stakeholders
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to team members, including graduate engineers.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or similar field.
  • Victorian state registered Engineer.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute Systems Engineering Management Plans.
  • Hands-on experience in configuration management practice.
  • Working knowledge of ASDEFCON Contracting framework (above and/or below the line).
  • Experience in risk management.
  • Experience in Verification and Validation (V&V) planning and test execution.
  • Minimum AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance with the ability to obtain NV1 clearance.

Desirable

  • 5+ years Systems Engineering or Mechanical Engineering practice (in Defence Environment).
  • Ability to conduct Change Control Boards and Risk Management Meetings.
  • Experience in requirements management and use of DOORs.
  • Experience in developing System Design and detail design documentation.
  • Experience in Systems Safety and developing and implementing safe ways of working and WHS plan.
