The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Test & Evaluation (T&E) Engineer to support the Joint Land Force base in either Canberra or Melbourne.

In this role, you will provide specialist systems engineering and T&E expertise to support the delivery of next-generation Land C4 system capabilities. You will work in a complex, fast-paced environment, contributing to capability acquisition, integration and assurance activities.

This is a great opportunity for a mid-to-senior engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, influencing stakeholders, and working across the full engineering lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver systems engineering and T&E activities across Defence capability projects
  • Develop and review technical documentation, including certification plans and engineering artefacts
  • Support Verification & Validation (V&V) and risk management activities
  • Conduct and support Test & Evaluation activities across the lifecycle, including Preview (PT&E), Acceptance (AT&E), and Operational/In-Service testing
  • Engage with Defence and industry stakeholders to support system integration and capability delivery
  • Provide technical advice aligned with Defence engineering governance frameworks
  • Contribute to engineering planning, milestone development and task allocation
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, policies and regulatory frameworks

As the ideal candidate you will bring: 

  • Degree qualification in Engineering
  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in systems engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in Test & Evaluation within Defence or complex systems environments
  • Experience working with integrated or C4 systems
  • Strong understanding of Verification & Validation processes
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against technical and project outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience developing key verification artefacts, including V&V Plans, Procedures, Reports, and Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRM)
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards
  • Strong understanding of engineering governance and standards
  • Experience working within Defence or complex government environments, with knowledge of capability lifecycle frameworks and exposure to ICT, cyber, and tactical communications systems (including radio and satellite) is highly desirable. 
  • Minimum AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance and Australian citizenship required to be eligible.
