The Opportunity

KBR is growing its engineering capability and seeking talented Engineers to support Australia’s most complex and critical Defence programs across Maritime, Land, C4I, Electronic Warfare, and Guided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) domains.

We are looking for engineers across a range of disciplines- Systems, Software, and Specialist Engineers (e.g. Guided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance) to contribute to the delivery of sovereign Defence capability across the full lifecycle, from concept and design through to integration, verification, assurance, and sustainment. You will work within integrated, multidisciplinary teams solving complex technical challenges that directly support mission readiness and operational outcomes.

Most roles are based in Melbourne or Canberra and require onsite presence. Applicants must already be located in, or willing to relocate to, these locations

Responsibilities:

  • Apply engineering principles across the full lifecycle, including requirements, design, integration, and verification & validation
  • Support development and delivery of complex systems and technical capabilities
  • Develop and manage requirements, system architectures, interfaces, and technical documentation
  • Contribute to technical risk identification, analysis, and mitigation strategies
  • Support design reviews, assurance activities, and engineering governance processes
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, project, and commercial functions
  • Provide input into technical specifications, statements of work, and solution design
  • Support integration and interoperability across systems, platforms, and environments
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet performance, regulatory, and capability requirements


As the ideal candidate you will bring: 

  • Experience in engineering roles within complex or highly regulated environments (Defence, aerospace, technology, or similar)
  • Background in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a relevant specialist discipline (e.g. weapons systems, electronics, ICT, or mission systems)
  • Strong understanding of engineering lifecycle processes and structured delivery frameworks
  • Experience working with requirements management, system integration, and verification activities
  • Ability to engage effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Exposure to acquisition, sustainment, or large-scale project environments is desirable
  • Relevant qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline
  • Professional accreditation or certifications are advantageous but not essential
  • Must have an active Baseline or NV1 security clearance and be an Australian citizen to be eligible to apply.
