We are looking for a qualified and talented Senior Accountant who has worked in a project-based environment. Reporting to our Financial Controller, you will provide support across all areas of the function spanning payroll, insurance, risk and governance, standards and company finance policies across the Kapitol Group of companies. You will be based in our state-of-the-art Head Office, 5 days per week, on the corner of Bourke and Elizabeth Street.
What you’ll do:
- Delivery of the month-end reporting for the group, including all balance sheet reconciliations, adjustment journals, variance analysis and dashboard reporting
- Manage all tax and reporting obligations (BAS, FBT, PTRS etc)
- Proactive cash flow forecasting, analysis and reporting, with the ability to train non-finance personnel
- Project accrual analysis
- Manage the external audit and other compliance requirements, including oversight of the preparation of financial statements, compliance with accounting standards and preparation of supporting workpapers
- Prepare cyclical and ad-hoc financial reports for senior leaders of the business
- Support Commercial and Operations team with financial information and reporting to support decision making
- Supporting continuous business processes and systems improvements
What you'll bring
- CA or CPA qualified, with a minimum of 5 years' experience (ideally within construction or infrastructure)
- Hands-on and proactive, with the ability to lead and drive outcomes across the organisation
- Strong accounting technical knowledge, advanced Excel/financial modelling skills and experience in Jobpac is highly desirable
- Transformational leadership experience with proven success in leading teams through change and process improvement initiatives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable plans
- Excellent stakeholder engagement across senior leadership and operations
- Strong analytical mindset with hands-on delivery approach
