In the face of rising levels of unmet legal need, Justice Connect designs and delivers high impact interventions to increase access to legal support and progress social justice.

Justice Connect’s acclaimed Innovation and Engagement team undertake some of the most cutting-edge work at the intersection of justice, communications and technology. The multidisciplinary team work on projects that aim to scale Justice Connect’s reach and impact, and improve the experience of people seeking legal help and the lawyers that help them. We aim to improve service efficiency by building service provision and consumer facing tools, allowing us to extend our reach to a growing cohort of people and not-for-profit organisations needing legal help.  

Our deep understanding of legal help consumers combined with our leading expertise in the law, research, design, communications, digital outreach, and product development, ensure our projects are designed to meet the communities needs and deliver meaningful outcomes. 

Our ideal candidate

You'll bring to the team experience in the following areas:

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or relevant field
  • Sound technical skills, and interest and appetite to learn new systems and processes. 
  • Systems thinker and problem solver 
  • Resolve UX issues and identify UX improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to use interpersonal skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and clients.

Candidates will need to demonstrate commitment to Justice Connect's vision, strategy and values.

What you will achieve in the role

In this role, you’ll work to

  • Write clear, well designed, testable and efficient code using best software development practice and carrying out front end development. 
  • Provide development, enhancement and bug fixing support for existing and future projects. 
  • Undertake customisation of products and platforms used to deliver services. 
  • Engage with users and clients to gather insights and requirements on the consumer experience. 
  • Employ effective methods of testing to support varying client systems (browsers, operating systems, devices etc.)

A week in this role

If you were here last week, you would have:

  • Participated in our daily standups where we check in on each other and talk about the daily tasks.
  • Written a well-documented code and provided UX support.
  • Completed tasks defined through Jira board.
  • Completed learning and training as defined in your one-on-one.
  • Responded to requests through emails, whether that's someone in the office, or an external customer that needs our help.

Important role information

The position reports to Mark Pendergast Lead Developer.

Employment is full time fixed term 12-month contract with possibility of extension.

The salary for this role is $76,238.75 per annum, superannuation will be paid according to statutory requirement, with annual leave loading and generous salary packaging options.  

This role can be based at our Melbourne office on level 5, 446 Collins Street, or our Sydney office on level 5, 175 Liverpool Street, Sydney NSW 2000 with hybrid working arrangements.  Other locations may be considered via negotiation with the successful candidate, with ongoing hybrid working arrangements.
