Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, the Engagement and Fundraising Manager builds capability in communications and fundraising, embracing a test-and-learn approach. By strengthening our voice and presence, championing powerful storytelling and advocacy, and driving revenue growth, the Manager makes a critical contribution to Justice Connect’s vision of a world in which legal support is within everyone’s reach.

Our Team

Justice Connect believes in a world in which legal support is within everyone’s reach. In the face of rising levels of unmet legal need, our 2028 strategy sees us put people first, innovating to build our communities' skills, knowledge, and confidence, and grow access to legal support.

Our Engagement program makes sure the people who need us, find us. The team brings together multidisciplinary subject matter experts across strategic communications, digital outreach, fundraising, and evaluation.

Together we strengthen awareness of our services, grow our community of supporters, and drive client-centred, data-informed decisions to scale our reach, influence, and impact as a leading social justice organisation.

Our ideal candidate

You'll bring to the team experience in the following areas:

• Leadership experience in multidisciplinary teams across engagement, communications, and fundraising, with the ability to set strategy, coach staff, and foster a collaborative, inclusive team culture.

• Strong expertise in strategic communications and digital marketing, with the ability to design and deliver integrated, data-informed campaigns across multiple channels.

• Deep capability in brand stewardship and storytelling, with the ability to shape compelling narratives, distill complex information into accessible insights, and embed evidence and outcomes to strengthen communications activities.

• Demonstrated experience in fundraising strategy, with a track record of driving sustainable revenue growth and diversification across philanthropy, partnerships, and individual giving.

• Highly developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with experience building and maintaining relationships both internally and externally.

Candidates will need to demonstrate commitment to Justice Connect's vision, strategy and values.

What you will achieve in the role

• Lead and nurture a small but high-performing Engagement team, fostering a collaborative, purpose-driven culture that supports Justice Connect’s 2028 strategy.

• Strengthen Justice Connect’s brand and profile by embedding consistent, compelling storytelling that demonstrates our impact and amplifies our unique voice.

• Expand our digital reach and influence by driving data-informed marketing, optimising our integrated campaigns, and ensuring our services and stories connect with the right audiences.

• Grow and diversify revenue by delivering innovative fundraising campaigns and building strong, sustainable relationships with donors, partners, and philanthropic supporters.

• Embed best-practice systems and processes across the team to strengthen efficiency, data use, and capability across the organisation.

A week in this role

If you were here last week, you would have:

• Lead the weekly Engagement Team meeting, supporting staff to prioritise their projects and unblock challenges.

• Join a cross-organisational project meeting to advise colleagues on best-practice messaging and stakeholder engagement strategies.

• Investigate analytics from our digital outreach campaigns, and collaborate with the Communications Lead to refine targeting, messaging, and channel mix.

• Oversee development of new plain-language self-help resources for our website with the Project Coordinator, aimed at increasing digital inclusion and legal resilience.

• Collaborate with the Fundraising Lead to review the progress of an integrated fundraising campaign, delving into supporter data and testing new tactics to drive results.

• Connect with a major donor or philanthropic partner to share impact stories and deepen their support.

• Work with members of the Organisational Leadership Team to prepare key messages or media responses that highlight Justice Connect’s role in increasing access to justice.
