Important role information

The position reports to the Innovation Manager.

Employment is part time (30 hours per week) ongoing.  

The salary for this role is $64,684.75 per annum (pro rata) (plus 10.5% superannuation) with annual leave loading and generous salary packaging options.  

This role can be based at our Melbourne office on level 17, 461 Bourke Street Melbourne with hybrid working arrangements.

In the face of rising levels of unmet legal need, Justice Connect designs and delivers high impact interventions to increase access to legal support and progress social justice.

Justice Connect’s acclaimed Innovation and Engagement team undertake some of the most cutting-edge work at the intersection of justice, communications and technology. The multidisciplinary team work on projects that aim to scale Justice Connect’s reach and impact and improve the experience of people seeking legal help and the lawyers that help them. We aim to improve service efficiency by building service provision and consumer facing tools, allowing us to extend our reach to a growing cohort of people and not-for-profit organisations needing legal help.  

Our deep understanding of legal help consumers combined with our leading expertise in the law, research, design, communications, digital outreach, and product development, ensure our projects are designed to meet the communities needs and deliver meaningful outcomes.

What you will achieve in the role

In this role, you’ll:

  • Make a critical contribution as a highly-valued member of our award-winning, energetic and close innovation team.
  • Gain real-world experience in technology product development and management, with exposure to a range of respected leaders in the access to justice technology field.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with our inter-disciplinary team on a range of products and projects that increase access to legal support and progress social justice.
  • Help bring the products to life, understand how they are being used in the world and their impact, and contribute to iterations.
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders from other Justice Connect teams, funders, product users and pro bono lawyers.

A week in this role

If you were here last week, you would have:

  • Your week will commence with a team sprint planning meeting on Monday morning. You will contribute to setting the priorities for the sprint ahead and the work you should be focused on will be clear to you after this meeting.
  • You will assist with testing an update to one of our technology products before we make the update live. You will collaborate with out product managers and development team, noting any issues in collaboration spaces and helping to resolve these.
  • You will receive a request for user support from an external user of one of our products. You will prepare a 'how-to' video and send this to the person as well as adding it to our troubleshooting resource page for product users.
  • You will assist the Head of Innovation and Engagement to prepare a funding application.
  • You will help to set up a range of meetings with project stakeholders for the week ahead.
