Important role information

The position reports to Operations Manager.

Employment is full part time (15 hours per week) permanent. Work days are Thursday and Friday. 

The salary for this role is $74,107.32 per annum (pro rata) (plus 10.5% superannuation) with annual leave loading and generous salary packaging options.  

This role will be based at our Melbourne office on level 17, 461 Bourke Street with hybrid working arrangements.  

Our Team

In the face of rising levels of unmet legal need, Justice Connect designs and delivers high impact interventions to increase access to legal support and progress social justice.

Justice Connect’s Operations team provide support, advice and expertise to over 100 staff across Justice Connect, Health Justice Australia and the Human Rights Law Centre. The team is responsible for managing the physical work environment, developing and maintaining information technology tools, supporting people and culture, management of and accountability for funds and financial management including payroll. In addition to this, the Operations team oversees the governance and compliance obligations of Justice Connect and manages the business of the volunteer Board.

You'll bring to the team experience in the following areas:

  • Experience interacting with clients who are experiencing disadvantage including communicating effectively using plain and accessible language
  • Experience demonstrating resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Experience working collaboratively with others sharing information and working together to achieve outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience to plan and prioritise, taking an organised approach to your work, tracking progress and adjusting priorities
  • Significant experience in a reception or office management role (preferred)

What you will achieve in the role

In this role, you’ll work to:

  • Provide a professional, respectful and welcoming environment in person, on the phone and via email for all help seekers and visitors
  • Provide administrative and operational support to ensure the effective running of the Melbourne office including management of incoming and outgoing mail
  • Provide Melbourne office based facilities induction including physical environment, OHS and IT
  • Collaboratively design and implement innovative solutions to processes and procedures for the Melbourne Office
  • Cooperatively ensure the job share arrangement works effectively and efficiently

A week in this role

If you were here last week, you would have:

  • Spoken to multiple help seekers and referrers via phone and email and passed enquiries through to the appropriate team
  • Completed a digital handover to and from the Office Manager you job share with
  • Inducted a new staff member to our office, showing them around and giving them an overview of our IT systems
  • Solved office facility issues for staff from mail to office passes
  • Attended a daily social catch-up online with the team
