Join Juniper, one of Western Australia’s leading not-for-profit aged care providers, as a Senior WHS Adviser. Based in Balcatta, this permanent full-time role plays a critical part in shaping a safe and supportive environment across our residential and community care services.
You’ll lead the development and implementation of safety programs, champion compliance, and foster a culture of wellbeing for staff, contractors, residents, clients and volunteers. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in aged care through proactive safety leadership and collaborative service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate hazard and incident reporting, investigations, and WHS data analysis.
- Maintain safety registers and prepare board-level reports.
- Develop and review WHS policies, procedures and annual plans.
- Conduct site audits, risk assessments and support aged care accreditation.
- Coach and mentor staff, supervisors and WHS representatives.
- Lead WHS committee meetings and consultative engagement mechanisms.
- Deliver WHS induction and ongoing training.
- Monitor legislation updates and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and injury management requirements.
Key Requirements:
- A diploma or higher-level qualification in Work Health and Safety (WHS).
- Additional credentials such as Lead Auditor training and ICAM investigation certification are highly regarded.
- Professional affiliation with organisations such as the Australian Institute of Health & Safety (AIHS) is desirable.
- Comprehensive understanding of Western Australian WHS legislation, best practice and industry standards.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and WHS management software platforms.
- Strong ability to coach, mentor, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven expertise in writing detailed reports and delivering clear safety communications.
- Well-developed organisational and time management capabilities to meet multiple priorities.
- Experience applying WHS practices within aged care, healthcare, or community service environments.
- Demonstrated competency in managing psychosocial risks, infection control protocols, and emergency responses.
- Practical experience in planning and conducting audits, investigations, and safety assessments.
Other Requirements
- National Criminal History Check and statutory declaration under the Aged Care Act 2024.
- Physically fit and capable of meeting role demands.
- Current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
