Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Award Level 3
About Us:
We are a growing and innovative social enterprise supporting around 10,000 South Australians each year through housing and community services. Seeking opportunities to build positive pathways and connected thriving communities, we are one of few South Australian organisations offering an integrated model of housing and support. Together, we are committed to effecting long-term positive change for those we work with and the communities we work in.
Together, we are improving lives and building strong, resilient, and connected communities.
The Opportunity:
This is more than just a job — it’s an opportunity to use your lived experience to create meaningful change for young parents and their children.
The Peer Support – Community Connector is an important role in the Young Parents Program, a co‑designed program that supports young mothers to feel safe, connected and empowered. Working with the Program Manager, Coordinator and a passionate broader team, you will walk alongside young parents, using your lived experience to foster connection, hope and belonging.
This role is grounded in relationship‑building. You will warmly invite young parents into the program, so they feel respected and supported. You will help create and facilitate group activities that support peer‑to‑peer connection. You and the team will actively listen, learn and adapt the program based on the voices of young parents. Your work will help young families access supports, build confidence, strengthen networks and engage meaningfully within their communities.
You will also be instrumental in strengthening service pathways and young‑parent‑friendly networks, supporting warm referrals and building connections across the family support sector. Your contribution will help ensure the program remains strengths‑based, trauma‑informed and responsive to the lived realities of young parents.
If you are passionate about peer work, value lived experience as expertise and want to be part of a skilled team that creates space for young parents to thrive — this role offers purpose, connection and impact. It also offers peer work training and peer supervision for you to develop your practice.
We are seeking a highly passionate person who:
- Has lived experience of parenting aged 25 and under, while navigating:
- stresses that impacted their experience of parenting
- limited family or social supports
- seeking and/or receiving support from child and family services
- Has experience or a strong interest in peer or lived‑experience based work
- Can safely, intentionally and appropriately use lived experience to support young parents
- Demonstrates strong relationship‑building, communication and interpersonal skills
- Maintains strong professional boundaries, reflective practice and commitment to self‑care
- Has knowledge of local services and community supports for young families
- Ability to use lived experience to inform social media content that engages and connects with young parents
- Is comfortable contributing to group facilitation, community engagement and basic administrative tasks
- Peer worker training is desirable but not essential — support and development will be provided.

- Complete our online application process
- Hold or be willing to obtain a current Working with Children Check
