Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Award Level 3

About Us:

We are a growing and innovative social enterprise supporting around 10,000 South Australians each year through housing and community services. Seeking opportunities to build positive pathways and connected thriving communities, we are one of few South Australian organisations offering an integrated model of housing and support. Together, we are committed to effecting long-term positive change for those we work with and the communities we work in.

Together, we are improving lives and building strong, resilient, and connected communities.

The Opportunity:

This is more than just a role — it is an opportunity to use your lived experience of being a young parent to walk alongside others as they build confidence, connection and pathways toward their goals.

The Young Parents Program (TYPP) is a co‑designed, early intervention program that supports young mothers to feel safe, connected and empowered to thrive. As a Peer Support – Coordinator, your lived experience is central to the way you engage with participants and support them through the program.

In this role, there is a strong focus on building consistent, trusting 1:1 relationship with young parents. You will work alongside participants to:

  • maintain engagement across the duration of the program
  • navigate challenges and access services
  • build confidence, independence and connection

You will play a key role in supporting young mothers to stay engaged with the program, recognising and responding to barriers, and using your lived experience thoughtfully to encourage, motivate and build trust.

Together with the Program Coordinator, you will co‑facilitate structured group sessions – a key part of the program. This includes contributing to session planning, preparing resources and supporting delivery, ensuring sessions are engaging, relevant and responsive to the needs of young parents.

In addition, you will support ongoing program development through feedback, reflection and participation in evaluation processes.

This role combines peer support, structured program delivery and coordination responsibilities — ensuring young mothers are supported both individually and within a group setting.

If you are passionate about peer work, value lived experience as expertise and want to be part of a skilled team that creates space for young parents to thrive — this role offers purpose, connection and impact. It also offers peer work training and peer supervision for you to develop your practice.About you:

We are seeking a highly passionate person who:

  • Has lived experience of parenting aged 25 and under, while navigating:
  • stresses that impacted their experience of parenting
  • limited family or social supports
  • seeking and/or receiving support from child and family services
  • Has experience or a strong interest in peer or lived‑experience-based work
  • Can safely, intentionally and appropriately use lived experience to support young parents
  • Demonstrates strong relationship‑building, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is confident working both 1:1 and within group settings
  • Is able to support basic coordination tasks, including resource preparation and program administration
  • Maintains strong professional boundaries, reflective practice and commitment to self‑care
  • Peer worker training experience is desirable but not essential — support and development will be provided.

You Will Need To:

  • Complete our online application process
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a current Working with Children Check
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a National Police Clearance
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a current Child Safe Environments Certificate
  • Hold a current unencumbered Australian Driver’s Licence or equivalent, and be willing to drive own car
