About the Role

The Family Group Conferencing Convener plays a pivotal, independent facilitation role, working alongside families and key stakeholders to coordinate and deliver Family Group Conferencing. This model empowers families to develop their own sustainable solutions, supported by professional insight.

You will lead a structured, staged process that ensures families are well-prepared, supported during conferencing, and enabled to successfully implement their plans.

  • Maintain integrity of the process, intervening only where safety risks arise

Post-Conference Phase

  • Support implementation and monitoring of family-led plans
  • Ensure accountability across all stakeholders
  • Maintain family ownership by facilitating any plan changes through the FGCC process

Capability Building

  • Build understanding of Family Group Conferencing across the service system
  • Support practitioners to assess readiness and appropriateness for conferencing
  • Educate partners on their role within the FGCC model

  • Demonstrated ability to engage diverse families and manage complex dynamics
  • Excellent coordination, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills
  • The ability to balance collaboration with independence, maintaining the integrity of the conferencing process
  • A commitment to cultural safety, inclusion, and family authority
