Overview of our role
Drive growth at the forefront of Australia's energy future. As Business Development Manager – JGN, you'll build trusted partnerships with major customers, identify new opportunities and help bring complex energy solutions to life. Working closely with teams across the business, you'll shape tailored solutions that deliver value for customers while shaping a sustainable future of the Jemena Gas Network. You'll play a key role in connecting large-scale facilities, influencing commercial outcomes and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team.
Key accountabilities involve
- Identify new demand opportunities and develop solutions that drive value for the customer and the network.
- Partner closely across the Customer & Commercial and Future Networks teams to monitor market and customer dynamics to develop a pipeline of exciting prospects across sectors such as power-generation, data centres and large-scale energy users.
- Stay connected to market trends and emerging customer needs, turning insights into practical opportunities and outcomes.
- Develop innovative commercial proposals and connection solutions that create value for customers and Jemena alike.
- Guide complex opportunities through governance and risk processes, ensuring strong commercial outcomes within the regulated context.
- Represent Jemena at industry and government forums, helping showcase our role in powering growth and investment across Australia.

What You'll Bring
- Experience building and growing commercial opportunities within energy, utilities, infrastructure or similar industries, ideally across large-scale projects.
- Proven success developing strong customer relationships and influencing outcomes with major developers, owners, operators and industry partners.
- Confidence structuring commercial proposals, navigating complex commercial negotiations and delivering mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to assess opportunities, evaluate risks and create compelling business cases.
- A strategic mindset combined with a practical, hands-on approach to identifying targets, progressing opportunities from initial engagement through to delivery.
- The ability to collaborate across diverse teams and bring people together to achieve shared goals.
Qualifications / Certifications & Experience
- A qualification in Business, Commerce, Engineering, Law or a related discipline.
- An understanding of large energy users and major project environments, with an appreciation for customer needs, project timelines and operational requirements.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with an established industry network or the ability to quickly develop trusted connections across customers, developers, consultants and key stakeholders.
- Commercial and financial capability, including evaluating opportunities, analysing business cases and developing customer-focused solutions.
- An understanding of regulatory environments and how they shape customer outcomes, commercial arrangements and project delivery.
- A collaborative and curious approach, with the confidence to navigate complex opportunities and create value for customers and the broader business.
