Engineer – Distribution & Capacity (Cathodic Protection)

We’re looking for an experienced Engineer – Distribution & Capacity (Cathodic Protection) to join our Networks team and play an important role in protecting and improving the integrity of our gas distribution assets across Australia.

About the role 

Reporting to the Asset Class Manager – Capacity & Distribution, you’ll work across engineering, operations and asset management teams to support the safety, reliability and long-term performance of Jemena’s gas network. 

This role combines technical engineering, problem solving and stakeholder collaboration, with opportunities to contribute to strategic asset planning and innovation initiatives.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Support the development and continuous improvement of cathodic protection strategies
  • Design, review and optimise CP systems for gas distribution infrastructure
  • Analyse performance data and identify practical, risk-based improvement opportunities
  • Contribute to asset integrity reviews, risk assessments and lifecycle planning
  • Provide technical support to operational and maintenance teams
  • Participate in field inspections, commissioning and troubleshooting activities
  • Support the development of technical standards, specifications and engineering documentation
  • Work collaboratively with contractors, project teams and engineering stakeholders
  • Help drive best practice approaches to corrosion prevention and asset protection  

About you

You’re a thoughtful and capable engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating with others and contributing to meaningful infrastructure outcomes.

You bring a balance of technical capability, curiosity and communication skills, and you’re comfortable working across both office and operational environments.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience within gas distribution, pipelines, utilities or heavy industrial environments
  • Practical exposure to cathodic protection systems including testing, monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of asset integrity and risk-based asset management principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A collaborative and relationship-focused working style
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Corrosion, Chemical or related discipline)  

Bonus points for:

  • Knowledge of AS 4645, AS 2832 and AS 2885
  • NACE 1, 2 or 3 certification (or a willingness to obtain it)
  • Experience supporting operational or field-based engineering activities
