About the Role
As an Environmental Business Partner, you’ll be a valued source of support and expertise across our Group. With a spirit of collaboration, you’ll regularly visit sites throughout QLD and NT, partnering closely with our Asset, Operations and Construction teams. Together, you’ll lead thoughtful risk assessment workshops, build respectful connections with environmental Regulators, internal stakeholders and ensure our operations uphold the highest environmental standards with care and confidence.
Your deep knowledge will help shape meaningful, Group-wide environmental standards that protect our land and communities, while providing assurance that each asset meets its unique environmental responsibilities. You’ll be a trusted expert in the field, supporting Operations with complex environmental matters and guiding the identification and management of environmental risks with a steady and insightful hand.
Your diverse skills will allow you to develop system-level documentation and provide on-the-ground subject matter expertise, nurturing sustainable practices across all aspects of our business.
Your Responsibilities
- Offer specialist, thoughtful environmental advice and support tailored to the needs of our teams.
- Identify and thoughtfully manage environmental risks during risk workshops, acting as a trusted subject matter expert and recommending practical controls.
- Coach, mentor, and gently challenge project and contract personnel to embrace and meet their environmental responsibilities with confidence.
- Develop and update Environment Management System documents,
- Regular visits to sites to undertake inspections and support stakeholders
- Develop Project- and asset-specific CEMPs, environmental subplans, and work instructions, OEMPs for Group Assets, ensuring alignment and care across the board
- Review compliance with Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Authorities (EA’s) with careful attention.
- Track, measure, and communicate environmental deliverables and KPIs for each business unit and project, celebrating progress along the way.
- Conduct environmental due diligence and assurance activities aligned with the HSE Audit Plan to foster continuous improvement.
- Monitor and ensure ongoing compliance with legislation across the Group with integrity and dedication.
- Prepare clear, respectful Environmental compliance reports for Regulators, reinforcing transparency and trust.
About You
- You bring experience in environmental roles, ideally within construction or utilities management, where you’ve made a positive impact.
- You work with initiative and autonomy but always with a collaborative and open heart.
- You have the ability to influence and inspire stakeholders, helping our Group mature in its environmental practices and outcomes.
- You hold tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field with an environmental focus.
- You understand environmental legislation broadly and know how to apply it thoughtfully and effectively.
This role can be located anywhere in Queensland with some travel to Northern Territory.
