About the role
We’re looking for a Senior GIS Technician to play a pivotal role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the GIS electrical network model. You'll oversee Planned Assets (PA), Change Requests (CR), and LV/Substation audit work, while coordinating and mentoring a team of GIS Technicians to ensure timely delivery. This role is central to supporting operational control, planning, and real‑time network visibility across the business.
This is a hybrid role with a requirement to be in the Collins Street office 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities include
- Oversee the end‑to‑end management of Planned Asset, Change Request, and LV/Substation audit workflows, ensuring accurate and timely GIS updates
- Assign, prioritise and monitor work across a team of GIS Technicians, ensuring timely completion aligned with operational requirements
- Act as the GIS subject matter expert and escalation point for technicians, planners, control room teams, and project stakeholders
- Maintain spatial and aspatial data integrity and ensure compliance with business standards
- Provide GIS, mapping and CAD services for capital projects, planning, construction and handover activities
- Support continuous improvement across GIS systems, processes and documentation
- Lead or contribute to system testing, reporting and regular work‑in‑progress reviews
About You
You’re an experienced GIS professional with strong stakeholder management, problem‑solving and leadership capabilities. You will be confident coordinating workloads, teaching others, and providing technical guidance as the team’s key SME.
- Experience using GIS systems within the electrical industry
- Demonstrated experience coordinating or leading technical teams
- Strong spatial reasoning, data management and cartographic skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and electrical network information
- Tertiary qualifications in GIS, Geomatics, Electrical Engineering, or significant relevant experience
