Overview of our role
We’re looking for an inspiring and collaborative Group Manager – AI, Data Management & Analytics to guide our organisation’s data and AI vision. In this role, you will nurture the development and execution of our enterprise data and AI strategy, ensuring our people are supported with high-quality data, thoughtful governance, and accessible analytics that empower confident decision‑making across the organisation.
You will play a key role in creating an environment where data is trusted, insights are meaningful, and AI solutions are delivered responsibly and with care.
In this role, you will:
- Shape and steward the Group’s enterprise‑wide data, analytics, and AI strategy—ensuring it aligns with organisational goals and supports the needs of our people and customers.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with stakeholders across the business to ensure our data and analytics solutions truly meet their needs.
- Guide the uplift of our data governance practices, nurturing continuous improvement in data quality, metadata management, and master data initiatives.
- Ensure we act responsibly and ethically, maintaining compliance with data privacy regulations and internal risk policies.
- Lead our AI/ML vision, supporting the development, deployment, and ongoing care of high‑performing, trustworthy models.
- Oversee our enterprise BI platforms and champion self‑service analytics to help teams access the insights they need with confidence.
- Champion data literacy, fostering a culture of learning and curiosity through communities of practice, training, collaboration, and generous knowledge‑sharing.
- Support, mentor, and uplift a diverse team of data engineers, data scientists, BI developers, and governance specialists—helping them grow and thrive.
- Collaborate closely with Digital and architecture teams to ensure our data platforms are scalable, secure, and built for the future.
- Lead the delivery of Enterprise Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence services to enable confident decision‑making and meet regulatory requirements.
- Guide the design of integrated data and analytics platforms that seamlessly support broader digital solutions and organisational priorities.
A little about you
- Demonstrated experience in data science, with a strong appreciation for work in utility, asset, and/or customer analytics, and a commitment to delivering insights that support people and organisational outcomes.
- Ability to build warm, trusting relationships across the organisation, engaging confidently with senior stakeholders through clear, empathetic, and thoughtful communication.
- Rich commercial experience in data‑intensive or digitally mature environments, with a focus on continuous learning, curiosity, and collaborative problem‑solving.
- Experience guiding and supporting medium‑sized teams in both development and operational contexts, fostering a positive team culture where people feel valued, included, and empowered to succeed.
Qualifications / certifications & Skills
- Tertiary qualifications in statistics, data science, or a related discipline, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and growth.
- Broad, well‑rounded experience across key data domains, including data warehousing, Business Intelligence, data science, and data strategy, with a focus on bringing people together to create meaningful outcomes.
- A supportive understanding of business information generation and analysis methods, combined with a thoughtful approach to interpreting insights and engaging others in the process.
