Help Protect the Technology That Powers Essential Energy Services

Overview of our role

As our reliance on connected technology continues to grow, so does the importance of keeping critical systems secure, resilient and reliable. We're looking for an OT Security Engineer to join our team and play a key role in protecting the operational technologies that support our energy networks.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of cyber security, operational technology (OT), engineering and energy operations, helping to strengthen organisational resilience while supporting the safe and reliable delivery of essential services.

Working closely with Engineering, Energy Operations, Control Room teams and other stakeholders across the business, you'll identify and assess cyber security risks, design and deploy practical security solutions, and implement security controls directly into the technologies and systems that support our operations. You'll be a trusted partner who doesn't just advise — you roll up your sleeves and deliver.

If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, getting hands-on with OT environments, building strong relationships and seeing security outcomes through from design to deployment, we'd love to hear from you.

Culture

What we do matters. Delivering safe and reliable energy makes a difference to people’s lives across our country every single day. We are proud to keep Australia connected while preparing the nation for a renewable future. Our people are our energy source. We offer meaningful benefits and rewards, including being a certified family-friendly workplace designed to see you succeed in all areas of life:

What You'll Bring

You'll bring a blend of technical cyber security expertise, operational technology knowledge and strong stakeholder engagement skills. Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys working collaboratively with others to find practical, effective solutions — and then implementing them.

  • Experience designing and deploying OT and cyber security architectures within complex environments
  • Proven delivery of long-term cyber security and technology roadmaps, including hands-on implementation
  • Direct experience configuring and deploying OT security tooling (e.g. asset visibility platforms, network monitoring, endpoint protection, or industrial firewalls)
  • OT experience within the energy industry highly desireable
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across all levels
  • Deep knowledge of OT systems, security controls and emerging technologies
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and collaboration skills

Qualifications / Certifications & Experience

  • Security-related qualifications or certifications will be highly regarded (e.g. GICSP, GRID, or equivalent OT security credentials)
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience deploying and configuring security controls in live OT or industrial environments
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Deep knowledge of OT systems, technologies and industry trends
  • Strong understanding of OT cyber security products, services and controls — and experience putting them into practice
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in operational environments, including substations, control rooms or field sites
  • Knowledge of digitisation trends and their impact on operational environments
  • Excellent collaboration, facilitation and internal consulting skills
