Overview of our role
The Principal Reliability Engineer will play a pivotal role in improving network reliability and shaping the future performance of Jemena's electricity network. Working across Asset Management, Network Operations, Planning, Delivery and Regulation, you'll bring people together around a shared reliability strategy, turning insights into meaningful actions that improve customer outcomes and network performance.
You'll lead the development of reliability frameworks, analytics and improvement initiatives, helping the business make informed, evidence-based decisions. From fault prevention and restoration programs to emerging technologies and network optimisation, you'll champion continuous improvement and guide the organisation towards industry-leading reliability performance.

What You'll Bring
- Extensive experience in electricity distribution, asset management, network operations, planning or reliability functions.
- Proven success leading complex, cross-functional programs and building collaborative partnerships across multiple teams and delivery partners.
- Demonstrated ability to improve reliability, network performance and operational outcomes through data-driven and customer-focused initiatives.
- Experience in reliability analysis, root-cause investigation, business case development, investment prioritisation and benefits realisation.
- Strong capability in executive, Board and regulatory engagement, including preparing clear and compelling reports, decision papers and recommendations.
- Experience developing high-performing teams, fostering capability growth and establishing effective governance, accountability and assurance frameworks.
Qualifications / Certifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, with Chartered Engineer status highly regarded.
- Strong knowledge of electricity distribution reliability frameworks and performance measures, including SAIDI, SAIFI, MAIFI, CAIDI and STPIS.
- Understanding of network operations and restoration practices, including OMS, SCADA/ADMS, AMI, FLISR, remote switching and network topology.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting, reliability performance obligations and audit requirements within the electricity distribution sector.
- Understanding of asset management, network planning, risk management, operational response and investment governance frameworks.
- Commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to assess customer benefits, investment outcomes, STPIS impacts and business plan alignment.
