About the role
We are seeking an experienced HSE Manager to provide strategic leadership and genuine business partnering across our high-risk operational group. This role is central to strengthening and unifying PSS operational safety, ensuring consistent, risk-based practices, and elevating safety capability across multiple sites.
You will lead a team of nine, work closely with operational managers, the GM and clients, and guide the business toward proactive, evidence-led safety decisions. A core part of the role is coaching leaders, constructively challenging assumptions, and enabling your team to deliver high-quality safety outcomes.
You will also support the implementation of the SGSPAA HSE Strategy, oversee assurance and monitoring programs, contribute to environment and sustainability activities, and represent the business with clients.
About You
You’re a confident HSE leader with proven experience in complex, high-risk environments. You combine technical expertise with sound judgment and the ability to influence senior stakeholders through evidence-based insights.
What You Bring
- Leadership & Experience: Extensive HSE leadership in utilities, infrastructure, or similar sectors. Skilled in implementing risk-based systems, assurance programs, and incident management.
- Team & Stakeholder Engagement: Experience leading multi-site HSE teams and partnering with operational leaders. Strong coaching ability to shift mindsets from reactive to proactive.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to build business cases, use data for decision-making, and challenge constructively when needed.
Technical Expertise
- Deep knowledge of OHS/HSE principles and Australian legislation.
- Proficiency in incident investigation, assurance programs, and risk methodologies.
- Understanding of industrial relations considerations.
- Tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety or Environment (preferred).

- Confident, credible, and effective with senior stakeholders.
- Skilled at unifying teams and embedding consistent safety practices.
- Collaborative, visible, and committed to developing people.
- Able to navigate complexity and guide balanced, risk-informed decisions.
