Overview of our role
Reporting to the Project Engineering and Program Delivery Manager.
The Data Centre Network Planning Team Leader plays a central, collaborative role in guiding the Data Centre Network Planning function. Building on the Senior DC Network Planning Engineer position, this role maintains responsibility for network capacity planning and augmentation strategy, while expanding its focus to:
- nurturing and empowering a team of planning engineers
- fostering consistency, care, and high-quality standards across planning outputs
- bringing together diverse data centre needs to shape well‑coordinated, phased investment programs
This role supports Jemena’s broader asset management, operational, customer, and commercial goals by ensuring planning outcomes are thoughtful, inclusive, and aligned with the needs of a rapidly growing data centre landscape.
A little about you
- Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring engineers.
- Strong technical background in electricity network planning.
- Experience within the electricity supply industry (distribution and/or sub transmission).
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
- Experience contributing to investment decisions and commercial trade‑offs
Qualifications / certifications & Skills
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Post‑graduate qualification in Business and/or Engineering (desirable).
- Strong knowledge of:
- Network planning standards
- Load forecasting and power system modelling tools
- Asset management and regulatory frameworks
- Understanding of data centre load characteristics and growth drivers
