Senior Secondary Asset Engineer
About Us:
Jemena is an Australian energy company who own and operate more than $12.4 Billion worth of gas and electricity transportation assets across Australia supplying millions of households and businesses with these essential services every day.
We pride ourselves on our innovative approach, technical expertise, and dedication to safety, quality, and sustainability. Our Group’s over 3000 team members; consistently strive to make a difference in the communities we serve.
If you're a seasoned engineer who thrives on collaboration, purpose-driven work, and creating systems that serve everyone, this is your opportunity to lead with both intelligence and intuition.
As a Senior Secondary Asset Engineer, you'll be at the heart of shaping a reliable, modern, and connected energy network. Your work will help ensure that every home, business, and community has access to the safe and stable energy they need — now and into the future.
In this role, you will:
- Coordinate asset replacement and maintenance programs, making thoughtful decisions that balance performance, cost, and long-term impact.
- Provide technical leadership and bring clarity to strategies and standards for zone substation secondary assets, including protection & control, fibre, and communications.
- Help maintain the systems that keep our network reliable — because every connection counts.
- Work closely with your colleagues to develop solutions that support grid transformation and reflect the needs of customers and communities.
We’re looking for someone who combines deep technical capability with a passion for building strong relationships and making a difference through their work.
Your Experience:
- Proven electrical supply industry, with hands-on experience in secondary systems
- A proven track record of success in collaborative, commercially focused environments
- Strong strategic thinking and a natural problem-solver
- A clear communicator — especially when it comes to writing thoughtful Board papers, reports, and business cases
- Skilled in project management, and confident navigating risk
- Committed to building meaningful relationships — inside your team and beyond
Your knowledge:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering (Chartered status welcome)
- A sound understanding of the evolving energy landscape and where technology is heading
- Awareness of key players and trends within the secondary asset space
Because you bring more than technical skills — you bring vision, empathy, and a drive to make a meaningful impact.
You understand that engineering is not just about systems — it's about people. You value the power of teamwork, thoughtful decision-making, and the opportunity to mentor and support those around you.
This is your chance to lead with confidence and care, and to help build a smarter, more inclusive energy future.
