About the role 

As our Finance Analyst, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the Gas Market business unit through thoughtful financial and commercial insights that genuinely shape decisions and drive meaningful outcomes. You’ll work closely with the team to bring the Group Strategic Plan to life, providing clarity, confidence and forward‑looking advice that helps the business thrive.

This role is hands‑on and varied, with responsibility for supporting budgeting and forecasting, delivering clear and insightful market reporting, and developing a deep understanding of the commercial and financial drivers that sit at the heart of the business. Your curiosity and attention to detail will help turn data into stories that guide smarter decisions.

Above all, you’ll be a trusted partner — someone the Gas Market team and Finance team can rely on for thoughtful guidance, collaborative problem‑solving and positive energy. You’ll be an active, engaged member of both teams, contributing your expertise while building strong relationships and supporting shared success.

About You 

  • Bring a thoughtful, strategic approach to complex finance matters, including budgeting and forecasting in a large, dynamic organisation.
  • Confidently partner with and support a team of finance professionals through collaboration and shared success.
  • Clearly identify and tell the story behind key business drivers and KPIs, turning numbers into meaningful insights.
  • Apply a curious mindset to combine internal and external data, uncovering opportunities and informing smarter decisions.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships through open communication and a supportive, solutions‑focused style.
  • Experience in the energy or utilities sector is welcomed and valued.

Qualifications / Certifications 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline e.g. Business, Commerce, Finance
  • Post Graduate qualification (CA / CPA), and strong understanding of ERP systems: SAP
  • Demonstrated ability to review contracts or key documents and have input into optimising financial outcomes
  • Strong ability to identify process improvement opportunities and proactively lead or influence positive change to improve efficiency, controls, and business outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to perform financial/economic modelling for growth opportunities within the Gas & Electricity Markets
  • Demonstrated professional scepticism, with the ability to critically assess information, challenge assumptions, identify risks, and apply sound problem‑solving skills to support robust financial outcomes.
