About Us

Jemena owns and operates a diverse portfolio of energy assets throughout the northern and east coasts of Australia. With more than $12 billion of major gas and electricity infrastructure, we deliver energy to millions of households, institutions, and industries every day. Our assets include the Jemena Electricity Network in northwest Melbourne, the Jemena Gas Network in New South Wales and gas transmission lines such as the Eastern Gas Pipeline, Queensland Gas Pipeline and Northern Gas Pipeline.

About the Role

As a Senior Energy Policy & Government Relations Advisor at Jemena, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Australia’s energy landscape. Joining our Corporate Affairs team, you’ll drive strategic analysis, research, and advice across our assets—helping to position Jemena at the forefront of the energy transition and decarbonisation efforts.

In this role, you’ll monitor domestic and international energy and climate policy trends, prepare high-quality submissions, research reports, and presentations, and represent Jemena’s policy positions in engagements with government, industry bodies, and key stakeholders. You’ll support the development and execution of stakeholder engagement strategies, inform investment and risk decisions with cross-functional input, and ensure our policy positions align with business and commercial priorities.

With a focus on the exciting future of our assets, you’ll help inform government initiatives to lower emissions and connect more sustainable technologies, supporting Jemena’s ambition to be a leader in Australia’s energy system. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact—working collaboratively to deliver innovative solutions to government and help shape a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.

About You

You have a strong academic foundation in economics, sustainability, political science, international relations, or a related discipline, complemented by significant hands-on experience in policy, government, infrastructure, or energy markets. As an analytical thinker, you excel in both qualitative and quantitative research—or are eager to further develop these skills—and your exceptional written and verbal communication abilities enable you to distill complex policy issues into clear, actionable recommendations.

You possess a deep understanding of, and genuine interest in, government policy development and public affairs. You’re adept at building productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Whether working independently or as part of a team, you are detail-oriented, strategic, proactive, and driven. Above all, you are enthusiastic about driving outcomes and ready to make a significant impact in a close-knit team—where your curiosity and initiative will be highly valued and rewarded.

Why you should come and work for us

At Jemena, we believe our people are our greatest strength—and we invest in them accordingly. From flexible working arrangements to paid parental leave and leave purchase plans, we offer benefits that support your life, not just your job.

We’re proud of who we are and passionate about what we do. Safety is at the heart of everything, and our respect for community and country anchors our Group Values.

But what truly sets Jemena apart is our role as a thought leader in the energy sector. We’re shaping the future of data centres and renewable gas (biomethane)—two of the most exciting frontiers in the energy transition. Industry turns to us for insight, and our teams help influence public understanding and policy.

Joining Jemena means more than just a job—it’s a chance to help build Australia’s low-emission energy system of tomorrow, while working in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.
