About the Role

As the Connections Subject Matter Expert – Embedded Generation, you will play a pivotal role in guiding Jemena’s approach to managing rooftop solar connections (up to 30 kVA) under Victoria’s Emergency Backstop Mechanism (VEBM). This is a role that blends technical expertise with compassionate leadership, ensuring every step of the process is handled with care, precision, and a deep commitment to customer satisfaction.

You’ll be the heart of our embedded generation journey — nurturing relationships, streamlining processes, and championing excellence across every touchpoint. Your voice will be central in shaping how we communicate with stakeholders, respond to enquiries, and evolve our practices to meet regulatory standards with grace and agility.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and refine Jemena’s embedded generation connection process, ensuring it’s seamless, responsive, and aligned with VEBM requirements.
  • Support and uplift Startek’s solar team, guiding them through pre-approvals, commissioning, and application close-outs with clarity and confidence.
  • Be a trusted partner to Registered Electrical Contractors (RECs) and solar installers, managing escalations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Serve as the primary communicator for RECs and Installers, delivering updates and insights that empower and inform.
  • Collaborate across teams to support broader basic connection processes, always with a spirit of unity and shared purpose.
  • Engage proactively with Digital and Future Networks teams to enhance embedded generation workflows.
  • Stay informed on evolving regulations and technical standards, ensuring Jemena’s practices remain current and compliant.
  • Represent Jemena with poise and insight in industry forums, advocating for practical solutions and sharing valuable perspectives.
  • Monitor and report performance metrics with diligence and transparency.
  • Uphold the Electricity Distribution regulatory framework with integrity and precision.
  • Foster adaptability in a dynamic environment, embracing change with resilience and optimism.
  • Cultivate strong, respectful relationships with customers, RECs, retailers, and installers.
  • Champion operational efficiency and continuous improvement in the Emergency Backstop process.

You bring a thoughtful blend of technical know-how and interpersonal finesse. You’re someone who thrives in collaborative environments, communicates with clarity and warmth, and approaches challenges with a solution-focused mindset.

Your Strengths Include:

  • Familiarity with SAP and the JEN portal.
  • A solid understanding of the Victorian Emergency Backstop Initiative.
  • Experience with embedded generation connection processes is highly valued.
  • A holistic grasp of the basic Connections process.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate and influence with confidence and empathy.
