What You’ll Be Doing
Solution Architecture Development
- Assess current state and define target data architecture for operational and analytical applications.
- Collaborate with project, product, and engineering teams to gather requirements and iteratively design solution architecture.
- Translate business needs into detailed design specifications aligned with requirements.
- Create and maintain clear data architecture designs, patterns, and standards.
- Implement observability and controls for data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Ensure best practices for data integration across APIs, cloud apps, object storage, data warehouses, and external systems.
- Leverage modern technologies: microservices, orchestration, elasticity, observability, and integration patterns.
IT Strategy and Planning
- Support adoption and growth of the cloud enterprise data platform.
- Contribute to enterprise architecture roadmap and technology evaluations.
- Review concept briefs, business cases, and solution specifications for compliance with standards.
- Promote standardisation and consolidation across IT landscape.
- Define target architectures and migration roadmaps; present to governance forums.
Enterprise Architecture & Governance
- Apply industry-standard design and integration patterns.
- Collaborate with architects to define strategic direction.
- Enforce data governance policies on security, privacy, and metadata management.
- Develop and maintain policies, standards, and guidelines for IT selection and implementation.
- Advocate EA principles and communicate benefits to stakeholders.
Communication & Team Collaboration
- Guide development teams on implementing recommended architectures.
- Resolve technology roadblocks and propose alternative solutions.
- Design scalable, flexible, and adaptable solutions.
- Build understanding of business operations and KPIs to align technology deliverables.
- Collaborate with product owners, analysts, engineers, and scientists to enable data-driven decisions.
- Foster team building, knowledge sharing, and skills development.
Risk & Compliance
- Assist in identifying and assessing operational, financial, and reputational risks.
- Contribute to risk management frameworks, policies, and controls.
- Liaise with security and audit teams to ensure solution integrity and robustness.

What Sets You Apart
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in an IT-related field required.
- AWS Associate Architect or other cloud certification highly regarded.
- Formal architecture certification (e.g., TOGAF) is an advantage.
Experience
- 7+ years in Information Technology, including minimum 2 years as a Data Architect.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build consensus across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proven analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to translate complex business needs into clear technical direction.
- Advanced skills in SQL, Python, and Spark (highly desirable).
- Expertise in dimensional modelling and 3rd normal form modelling.
- Hands-on experience with one or more platforms:
- Databricks, AWS data services (S3, DMS, RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift), Power BI, Tableau, IBM Cognos, IBM TM1.
- Knowledge of machine learning and AI (desirable).
- Industry experience in comparator, digital marketing, insurance, or financial services (desirable).
