How you fit:

The Data Quality & Risk Analyst is responsible for ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across the organization. This role plays a critical part in identifying data quality issues, assessing risks related to data integrity, and implementing governance controls to mitigate potential data-related risks.

The analyst will collaborate with Data Engineering, Risk & Compliance, and Business teams to monitor data quality metrics, enforce data governance policies, and support regulatory compliance efforts.

The ideal candidate has experience in data quality management, data risk assessment, and implementing data validation processes. They are highly skilled in using data profiling tools, SQL, and analytics platforms to assess data integrity and drive continuous improvement.

What you do:

Data Quality Monitoring & Issue Resolution

  • Define, implement, and monitor data quality rules and standards across enterprise data assets.
  • Conduct data profiling, validation, and anomaly detection to identify inconsistencies, duplicates, missing values, and inaccuracies.
  • Work with Data Owners, Engineers, and Analysts to investigate root causes of data quality issues and drive remediation.
  • Establish automated data quality monitoring dashboards and reports using BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) or data governance platforms (Collibra, Informatica, Talend, Alation, etc.).

Data Risk Management & Compliance Support

  • Identify risks associated with poor data quality, incomplete datasets, or inaccurate reporting.
  • Conduct risk assessments to evaluate potential data governance failures, data security threats, or regulatory non-compliance.
  • Work closely with Risk & Compliance teams to support regulatory reporting, audits, and data governance compliance (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, BCBS 239, etc.).
  • Assist in implementing data controls and validation processes to prevent errors and ensure regulatory adherence.

Data Governance & Standardization

  • Support the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices.
  • Maintain data quality documentation, issue logs, and remediation plans to track data improvement initiatives.
  • Work with Metadata & Lineage Specialists to ensure proper data classification, lineage tracking, and documentation.
  • Assist in data stewardship initiatives, ensuring data responsibilities are clearly defined across business units.

Data Audits & Reporting

  • Perform periodic audits on key data sets to ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards.
  • Develop and present data quality scorecards and risk reports to senior management.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with Data Engineering, IT, Business Intelligence, Risk, and Compliance teams to embed data quality controls into workflows.
  • Act as a liaison between business and technical teams, ensuring that data quality initiatives align with operational needs.
  • Provide training and support to business users on best practices for maintaining high data integrity.

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience working with data quality frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of data validation techniques, issue management, and remediation strategies.
  • Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica Data Quality, Talend, Alation, Trillium, IBM InfoSphere).
  • Understanding of risk management principles related to data integrity and governance.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and regulatory compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, BCBS 239, etc.).
  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying, validation, and quality checks.
  • Experience with data profiling and anomaly detection tools.
  • Familiarity with BI and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik, etc.) for creating data quality dashboards.
  • Strong ability to investigate and resolve data issues in collaboration with Data Engineering and Business teams.
  • Ability to document findings and communicate data risks clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to integrate metadata and lineage tracking with data quality frameworks to improve data reliability and trustworthiness.
  • Experience with data profiling, anomaly detection, and quality assurance tools.
  • Proven experience working with cross-functional teams including Data Engineering, IT, Compliance, Risk, and Business Intelligence.
