How you fit:
The role of the SEO Manager is to manage and execute the SEO strategy to increase organic performance. We are looking for an experienced SEO expert to help manage all on-site and off-site optimisation across our websites (www.iselect.com.au / www.energywatch.com.au) and increase the volume of organic leads and rankings. The success of this role depends on the ability to understand the search landscape we operate in and build internal relationships to execute on the strategy. As such, the SEO Manager will work closely with our internal Content Manager, internal Editorial Team and our Product & Technology teams. This role will also be responsible for two SEO Specialists as direct reports. SEO is pivotal to the success of iSelect’s revenue growth targets and the SEO Manager will require a passion for reviewing numbers and rankings daily given the sales orientated environment.
What you do:
- Oversee the implementation of the SEO strategy to ensure we’re meeting rankings objectives and initiatives committed as part of the plan
- Manage and develop two SEO Specialists and allocate tasks from our backlog
- Build relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and communicate SEO performance and strategy progress.
- Analyse our organic performance and competitors to understand opportunity areas
- Own and refine our offsite link building strategy including managing agency partners and coordinating internal resources
- Provide SEO performance updates to key stakeholders
- Lead and manage end-to-end SEO projects, ensuring timely delivery by coordinating cross-functional stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with GMs, Marketing, Technology, and Product teams to deliver aligned SEO strategies.
- Collaborate with the in-house Editorial team to provide UX and content recommendations, driving continuous improvement.
- Drive content quality and new content requirements into the Content and Editorial to deliver on the SEO strategy
- Identify and develop innovative, forward-thinking SEO strategies beyond standard best practices.
- Create impactful SEO performance reports and translate data into actionable insights.
- Manage and optimise the SEO budget, including evaluation and onboarding of external partners where appropriate.
- Analyse internal websites and competitor data to uncover content and technical SEO opportunities.
- Leverage web analytics tools (e.g. Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics) to track and optimise performance.
- Use SEO platforms such as Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz, Majestic, and Buzzsumo to support technical audits and strategic planning.
- Apply advanced skills in Excel and/or Google Sheets for reporting, analysis, and scenario modelling.
- Perform well under pressure, taking initiative and adapting to shifting priorities with confidence.
- Demonstrate strong quantitative and analytical skills to assess SEO performance and support strategic decision-making. Duties and responsibilities may be adjusted within reasonable limits, to meet business needs.
What you need:
- 5+ years experience in SEO
- Ideally 2 + years in a head of/Senior SEO or SEO Strategy role, managing internal resources and external agency to deliver SEO outcomes.
- The ability to create and implement SEO strategies and confidently provide correct advice and suggestions to the wider marketing and technology teams.
- Experience in owing an SEO strategy end-to-end working with Product & Technology teams (including developers).
- Strong understanding of YMYL, E-E-A-T and Helpful Content principles to inform our content strategy
- Strong understanding of off-site link building tactics and hygiene factors inclusive of Digital PR and Publisher Partnerships is essential.
- Experience managing SEO like a performance channel with an obsession for daily lead performance tracking
- Technical skills such as HTML and WordPress with a strong understanding of URL hierarchies, redirects, hygiene factors, schema and page speed are essential.
- Understanding of AI automations to improve efficiencies and ways of working is strongly preferred.
